The SCA Eagles made the journey west towards Glendale on Monday night to face the Northwest Christian School Crusaders. Coach Alan Mitchell once again faced a Class 3A opponent, but with only a lineup of five players, comprised of sophomores Lily Richardson, Allyson Lund, and Baylee Tobin along with freshmen Ana Faustinos and Daphne Garland.
The Eagles started off the game cautiously as required by a team with only five players suited up. Lily Richardson directed the offense, slowly probing the Crusaders for open looks. Baylee Tobin began scoring early and often, overpowering her defender in the low post for buckets and earning free throws on good entry passes and high-low looks from Allyson Lund. Allyson Lund meanwhile took her defender off the dribble to score on lay-ups from the flat.
With Allyson Lund and Baylee Tobin taking turns blocking shots on defense to initate the break and finishing the break on long passes from Lily Richardson, the Eagles shortly built up a significant lead. Numerous steals by Ana Faustinos and Daphne Garland also provided SCA with many more possessions, and Daphne Garland, Lily Richardson and Ana Faustinos all hit shots from the long line to earn a comfortable first half lead.
In the second half, Coach Alan Mitchell focused the Eagles' play on possession as SCA sought for opportunities to drive and score or drive and kick. Daphne Garland helped herself and also hit Baylee Tobin in the short corner, Lily Richardson drove left and lofted in floaters, while Ana Faustinos and Allyson Lund both drove the lane to score from the elbow extended as SCA ran out to a big 52-12 win to stay undefeated for the season.
