Scottsdale Christian Academy's athletic department is beginning a student-athlete leadership initiative beginning in the Fall of 2019. The program will be called Catalyst and will be open to student-athletes in 8th through 12th grade.
th graders will get a broad overview of the entire initiative. Students will learn what it means to be a responsible, accountable, and committed athlete and teammate as well as other leadership principles. Meetings will take place once a month during lunch. This will be open to all 8th grade student-athletes.
th/10th graders will take a deep dive into what it means to be a responsible and accountable teammate. Meetings will take place once a month at lunch time.
th graders (Emerging Leaders) will learn what it means to be a committed teammate and athlete. They will also develop strategies on how to effectively lead themselves. Student-athletes will have to be nominated and selected based off of leadership potential before taking part in Emerging Leaders. Meetings will take place once a month before school begins. There will be outside reading that takes place inbetween meetings.
th graders (Veteran Leaders) will develop and implement strategies on how to effectively lead themselves and others. Veteran Leaders will have already completed the Emerging Leaders part of the program. Meetings will take place once a month before school.
